Enhancing Student Retention - Transforming Education as a Service

MagniLearn is a company that provides Education as a Service (EaaS) to students. They sought my assistance in enhancing their learning platform's student retention rates. The CEO of MagniLearn, Lana Tockus, acknowledged the significance of tackling retention challenges to guarantee sustained engagement.

Solution

To tackle the challenge, I initiated a user research initiative, meticulously planning and executing a study to gain insights into the factors impacting retention. Involving the product team in the research process allowed them to witness firsthand the pain points experienced by students. Through a collaborative User Journey mapping workshop, we identified critical pain points and areas for improvement.

Working closely with the product team, we explored various solutions and prioritized them based on their potential impact. Together, we set an improvement roadmap, outlining the necessary steps to enhance student retention. Throughout the process, I provided hands-on support, assisting with product-related tasks and leveraging my user experience expertise.

One of the key initiatives involved redesigning MagniLearn's learning platform. With my guidance, a young designer and I worked closely to create an appealing new design that addressed user pain points and encouraged engagement. We established metrics to track the success of the redesign, ensuring it aligned with the desired outcomes. I facilitated the handoff process and provided ongoing guidance during the development phase until the new platform was successfully launched.

Results

The collaborative efforts and focused approach led to notable improvements in MagniLearn's retention and user engagement. By understanding the root causes of low retention, prioritizing solutions, and executing the improvement roadmap, we achieved significant positive outcomes. The redesigned learning platform, incorporating user-centered design principles, garnered positive feedback from students, contributing to improved retention rates.

This case study exemplifies the impact of a holistic approach to addressing user retention challenges in the education sector. By combining user research, collaboration with the product team, hands-on design expertise, and effective execution, MagniLearn witnessed tangible improvements in student retention and engagement.
